What to do with this activity?
Follow these instructions from Science Bob to make a (sort of) plastic from milk. The vinegar acts with the milk to make blobs of CASEIN that are quite gluey and stretchy.
Most of the plastic we use does not break down - it's there forever. Nowadays there is a move to make plastic out of natural materials - like corn starch, cassava roots, sugarcane and yes, MILK - that will go back to nature.
Talk about plastic and the terrible effect our over-use of it is having on the world. Try to make choices as a family that avoid unnecessary plastic, like plastic straws and cups which can be made out of paper.
