What to do with this activity?
"Jelly on a plate" is a funny little rhyme kids love. Here is a youtube video from the Speks to get you going. Let your child make up actions that suit the words - do a wobbly dance for "wibbly wobbly"; bend down and pick up "money from the ground" and so on. Click on the "download PDF" link above right for all the words.
This is a great rhyme to sing when you are doing other stuff together.
By the way, jelly is very easy to make if you buy a packet of jelly in your local supermarket. Let your child tear up the jelly cubes and pop them in a jug. Then you can pour on boiling water and stir to dissolve. When the jelly is cool but not quite set, let your child add raspberries or grapes to the mix. When it's set, wobble it on the plate and sing the song.

Why am I doing this?
Play is one of the main ways that babies and toddlers learn about the world – it’s also one of the most effective ways they learn. When a child plays they refine learning skills that continue to develop during childhood and beyond.

How can I do more?
As a parent, you are your child’s best playmate so try to spend time every day playing together. As your baby gets older, don’t try to teach them anything during play. They will learn best if they choose what to play and you follow their lead.
